Natural Heritage Mid-Term Event in Athens

From July 1st to 3rd, the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), partner of the Community4Nature project, will host the Natural Heritage Mission’s Mid-term event on its campus in Athens.

The event will open on July 1st, with internal coordination and steering committee meetings for the Mission’s two governance projects, Dialogue4Nature (D4N) and Community4Nature (C4N). These closed-doors sessions will focus on aligning joint plans, preparing for the next Institutional Dialogue in Barcelona, and coordinating cross-project activities.

On July 2nd and 3rd, the interest will shift to the Mission’s Community of Practice, bringing in representatives from the Mission’s Thematic Projects.

The activities of the “Amplification Room” will kick-off, as a useful tool to support the Thematic Projects’ transfer strategies, starting with the Environmental Governance cluster. This will lead to the mapping of good governance practices across the community. Additional clusters, covering Forest management, Climate adaptation in coastal areas, GIS tools for disaster risk reduction and Nature-based Solutions for flood regulations, will be launched progressively.

The agenda also includes a marketplace of Greek pilots, inviting participants to evaluate potential opportunities for adoption and explore new projects.

During this event, the Mission’s contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will be explained and the next Institutional Dialogue will begin to take shape.

July 3rd will mark the celebration of European Maritime Day In My Country 2025. For this, a dedicated workshop on “Governance solutions for Mediterranean Marine Protected Areas” is organised. The goal is to propose concrete solutions to be adopted by Greek MPA managers and decision makers.

A special moment of the event will be the official launch of the 2025 Solve the Challenge Campaign, under the theme of “Environmental Governance”. The event will also host a joint communication meeting to enhance synergies across projects.
